Optical Frequency and Timing Distribution System for ESA Deep Space Tracking Stations
Optical Frequency and Timing Distribution System for ESA Deep Space Tracking Stations
It is now official ✨ The installation and testing of the 2nd Generation Optical Frequency & Timing Distribution System in the Ground Segment Reference Facility of the European Space Operations Centre (ESA/ESOC in Darmstadt) has been sucessfull.
The MENHIR-1550 lasers are at the heart of the frequency distribution of this system, consisting in linking multiples antennas together 📡📡 for supporting the communication with many satellites. Thanks to their ultra-low noise properties combined with their robust 24/7 operation, the MENHIR-1550 are the ideal source for it.
It is has been a great pleasure to work with all the partners and people involved in this Phase 1 (Cycle GmbH, Kemal Shafak, Anan Dai, Sinda Mejri (PhD) and many more).
🚀 Time now to focus towards Phase 2 of the project and start deploying the system to all ESA Deep Space Stations across the globe 🌎 (Cebreros-Spain, New Norcia- Austrialia and Malargue-Argentina).
